Vidal Sassoon has died at the age of 84 on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his home in Los Angeles.
The hair styling mogul changed the way women styled their hair by his easy wash and wear cuts.
His career began in the early 1950s and continued on into the women’s liberation movement in the 1960s and beyond. His signature cuts full of shape were seen on British fashion designer Mary Quant, amongst others. Sassoon had opened numerous salons in his home of London, England as well as created a line of hair care products which holds an international name. Not only did he have a major impact on the world of hair, he also started Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as he was committed to eliminating anti-Semitism.
